In this workshop participants will learn how to create baskets, trays or sculptural pieces using ribbed construction techniques.
On the first day participants will have the opportunity to create two small rib baskets using different weaving and construction techniques. The second day will focus on a larger piece, with the opportunity to incorporate random weave and string making.
All the materials are supplied and these will include natural vines, rushes and other long leafed plants.
Nuno felting is the integration of fabric and wool. Each of these have their own unique properties and together they can make the most beautiful medium to create scarves, wraps and garments.
In this 2 day class we will experiment with some of the variety of techniques available to create surface design and ultimately create a beautiful scarf.
From a background of Studio Ceramics Pam has worked now in the field of Textile Art for 16 years. Primarily a felt maker she explores, through innovation, the many ways wool can be formed and coaxed into new and interesting forms. Pam is also a natural dye and printmaker, using her home of the Blue Mountains as a constant source of inspiration and colour. Organic forms and texture are a common theme throughout her work, with the various properties of wool and the colours of nature influencing each piece.
