STITCH AS MARK – “TAKE A SIMPLE STITCH”
All artists, regardless of genre, use mark to develop a personal language within their work. Marks are used in specific ways giving emphasis, detail or value to the development of a work. Some use a pencil or pen, some a brush but WE will take a needle, a thread and a simple stitch.
Using Straight Stitch in its many and varied ways we will develop a “Spot Sampler” to describe written words – make a personal hidden language.
Using simple stitches, you will design and develop a small work (20x20cms) based on either a metaphor, of your own choosing such as, “The Moon is a Balloon” or a three-line poem, such as, “dry land: storm clouds, a creek runs.”
The workshop will suit all levels of experience. A fabric kit will be supplied.
