Description

Dates: 5 Wednesdays (30th October and 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th November)

Price: $150 total for five classes

A series of five drawing workshops on Wednesday mornings 9.30am to 12.30pm.

These workshops will use the environment around the Studio as inspiration for learning the basic techniques of drawing. This series will lay the groundwork for skills that you can take further at home. Full of hints and tips to achieving a realistic finish, how to tone and shade, aspects of composition, and experience handling different dry media are only some of the topics covered by this course.

We will work mainly with graphite pencil and cartridge paper. By keeping the tools simple we will be able to focus more on the methods and approaches to drawing. We will use the plants, small animals and insects around us as the subjects, not panoramic landscapes. You will not be a scientific illustrator by the fifth lesson but if the passion is ignited Jan will be able to help you build your skills in a more advanced series later. After the initial five lessons you will be able to draw some of the small and beautiful details of our natural world.
