Judy Wilford: Introduction to Design #2

$260.00 $220.00

This is the second workshop with Judy Wilford on design. For any participants that wish to come to this workshop without having done the previous one, Judy is happy to bring them up to speed. Design is useful for virtually everybody whether they are designing websites, oil paintings or anything in between. This workshop will show you why some things “work” and some don’t. It will give you tips and ideas for how to incorporate design elements into your work. The exercises Judy has prepared are a lot of fun and do not require any previous knowledge or skill.

These are the aspects of design that will be covered during this weekend.

Texture: Formal into Random.
Rhythm, Repetition – Value.
Composition: Balance – Symmetric to Asymmetric.
Designing from Nature – Cluster and Branching Systems.
The Principles of Arrangement – The Design Space.
Divisions of Space or Format – Focal Emphasis.
To include Analysis of either an Organic Form or an Inorganic Form.
To complete the Analysis of Day 8
Critical Analysis of the course.

I have taught this workshop in various forms at the McGregor Summer Schools as University of Southern QLD. Toowoomba, Fibre Forums and sadly some years ago at TAFE Armidale. The fundamental basics and ideas of design are the same regardless of their application. Whether you paint, make quilts, build furniture or engage in any creative activity or simply enjoy and wonder how and why a work works. I hope that this short, basic course will help
the understanding of the process. Judy Wilford.
