02 Jun Rae Woolnough: Shibori Felt Making
There were too many beautiful works made in this class to display here – please see our Facebook Page for more images. Rae Woolnough is a fantastic tutor and took us through so many felting processes. Some of us were complete beginners and others had some experience and yet all of us came out of the workshop with exciting new skills to put to use. We learnt how to make some great lumps and bumps in our felt using nuno felting and other Shibori techniques. We even had a go at dyeing some of our own silk for the nuno felting.
We had a lovely group of students from a wide variety of places, including Queensland and the Hunter Valley, NSW. The weather was perfect for us and we managed to get a lot of our felted pieces dry in time to rework them.
A few of us had a go at vessels (as you can see), with some great success. We even got time to experiment with 3D flowers and Kath’s little boy, Lindon, has new felted slippers.
